Feeding Our Neighbors

This is a local mission to help provide meals for people housed at the Unity Commons shelter located at 161 Pattison Street NE (just north of the church). The shelter is managed by Interfaith Works and houses 60 vulnerable people.

Currently we are providing 120 lunches every 2 weeks.

This provides lunches for 2 days.

FON stands for “Feeding our Neighbors”. We currently have between 10-12

volunteers who are involved, and our motto is “Let’s have FON” while

providing much needed meals.

Please contact Jeff Armstrong at jeffreydean522@msn.com or

360-489-9271 if you would like to help.

FON meets every other Friday @

10:00 am in room 125 at the church.

Angel Tree 2024

Every child has a story and for 2.7 million children in the U.S., that story may be filled with the abandonment, loneliness, and shame that come from having a mom or dad in prison. For many, it may also include following their parents down the same destructive road to incarceration. Angel Tree®, a program of Prison Fellowship, reaches out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Christ. Prison Chaplains offer inmates the opportunity to sign up their children to receive Christmas presents and local churches find people to purchase and deliver these presents in the name of their incarcerated parent. It is a great way for us to show the love of Christ to inmates and their families.

How does it work?

1. Find the "Angel Tree" table in the lobby

2. Each child has 2 "Angel's" with their name on it and each Angel represents gifts that total $25. So we buy $50 of presents for each child. One $25 gift is a practical gift (clothes, etc.). The other $25 gift is a fun gift (toys, etc.)

3. You can select as many "Angels" as you would like to buy gifts for.

4. Bring back the gifts to EBF by December 8, 2024.

5. If you don't want to do the shopping, you can donate the $$ and we have people that will do the shopping for the gifts.

6. On Sunday, December 15th distribute gifts to families.   This is a great time for you to be here to help us greet families and be available to answer any questions they might have and be available to pray for people.

If you have any questions or want to be involved please contact Kerri Vincent at kerri@ebfolympia.com

Quince Street Village Ministry

EBF Quince Street Village

Ministry

Is God calling you to help in our EBF ministry to those who have

lost so much, lived on the streets in or near Olympia, and who

now live at Quince Street Village (QSV)? We need volunteers.

QSV is a tiny home village located in downtown Olympia. It is a

first step off the streets and is essentially a long-term, but

temporary, shelter. Most arrive there with little, if any, hope, and

most of them do not know the Lord and the hope they can have in

Him.

Jesus spent much of his time, while walking among his creation,

with those who were poor, sick or crippled, oppressed, and

rejected by society. In fact, one of the reasons He came was to

specifically reach out to people in these situations (Luke 4:18). In

this ministry to the folks at QSV, we desire to follow the example

Jesus gave us.

Our ministry goal is to establish relationships with the residents

and staff of QSV to encourage them using the light of God’s love

to help them find the hope they desperately need to move forward

in their lives. We do this by spending time with them at available

opportunities. We create opportunities by serving coffee and fresh

scones or other treats at least 3 Saturday mornings/month, 9:00 –

11:00 AM, and for those helping to make the scones, we begin at

EBF at 7:15 AM. As these relationships are established, we can

have opportunities to encourage and pray with them, talk with

them about our Christian faith, the hope we have, and how they

can have that too.

If you are interested in serving in this ministry or have questions

about it, please contact Tony Allen at:

tonyallen1957@gmail.com

Ways to help in this ministry

-Help make scones earlier at the church 7:30am

-Visit with residents and staff while handing out beverages, scones, and other treats.

-Show that we care and that God cares for them.

-Lead a group prayer at the end of the visit.

This is an EBF supported ministry.
